Faculty Position in Worship and Liturgy

Position Description

United Lutheran Seminary seeks applicants for a faculty position in Worship and Liturgy. The candidate should have a Ph.D. or equivalent in the field of worship and liturgy; be committed to the mission of this school as an institution of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America together with ecumenical and multicultural commitments; show enthusiasm for collegial sharing in planning, teaching, and evaluating courses; and have an openness to learning and utilizing technology in classroom and on-line teaching.

This appointment is open in rank. The candidate would have some responsibilities for the worship life of the institution as well.

The successful candidate should be prepared to offer five courses per year in a variety of degree programs [including MDiv, MA, STM, and DMin]; advise students and participate in committee work; engage in continuing education for pastors, lay professionals, and congregations; as well as attend, participate, and lead in the worship life on both campuses. The successful candidate will be expected to engage in research and publication in the field of worship and liturgy.

Since United Lutheran Seminary operates out of two physical campuses, Gettysburg and Philadelphia, regular travel between the two campus is expected. In addition, we have a significant number of students who take up to two-thirds of their coursework online.
