Suicide Prevention Seminar

Gettysburg Campus

December 4, 2018

About This Event

WellSpan Philhaven is pleased to offer a QPR suicide prevention training to members of our community. QPR stands for Question, Persude, and Refer – three simple steps anyone can learn to help save a life from suicide. Just as people trained in CPR and the Heimlich Maneuver help save thousands lives each year, people trained in QPR learn how to recognize the warning signs of a suicide crisis and how to question, persuade, and refer someone to help.

QPR is a nationally certified program taught by certified trainers. Those completing the course will receive a certificate. The course focuses on training individuals to be “Gatekeepers” – someone in a position to recognize a crisis and the warning signs that someone may be contemplating suicide.

QPR Gatekeeper Training teaches you: How to Question, Persuade, and Refer someone who may be suicidal; How to get help for yourself or learn more about preventing suicide; The common causes of suicidal behavior; The warning signs of suicide; How to get help for someone in crisis.

This 3-hour seminar is available to individuals, and congregation groups. The event will be held in the Valentine Auditorium from 1:00pm-4:00pm.

Cost: $25
