May 8, 2023 - Philadelphia, PA - United Lutheran Seminary (ULS) is pleased to announce that Dr. Andre L. Price has been awarded the Louisville Institute’s Postdoctoral Fellowship as of July 1, 2023. The Louisville Fellowship supports a two-year visiting professorship at a North American theological school, college, or university. Fellows are accompanied by an academic and pastoral mentor and participate in a peer cohort that meets six times over two years. Dr. Price’s title at ULS will be Visiting Assistant Professor of Systematic Theology and African American Studies and Louisville Institute Postdoctoral Fellow.
Andre L. Price was born in Edison, New Jersey to R. Sharon and the late Paul L. Price. He credits his parents with providing space for him to hear the Lord’s voice at an early age. Andre earned a B.A. in Theological Studies from Eastern University, a Master of Divinity from Palmer Theological Seminary, and a Ph.D. from Villanova University, where he specialized in constructive theology and theological ethics.
His research interests revolve around theological method, political theology, Black theology, pneumatology, Pentecostalism and race. His research moves between material and symbolic cultural studies by employing theological, historical, and philosophical frameworks to aid in analysis and construction. At ULS, Dr. Price will teach courses in African American Theology, the Theology of Politics and the Politics of Theology
Dr. Price does theology at the intersection of the church and the academy. In addition to his academic pursuits, he serves as the senior pastor of the Mount Olivet Tabernacle Baptist Church (MOTBC) in West Philadelphia.
Our thanks to Dr. Junhee Yoon, who faithfully served ULS as the Louisville Fellow for the past two years. We wish her the very best as she continues her journey serving the church.
