President R. Guy Erwin was interviewed for the podcast, ​ReligionWise​,which features educators, researchers, and other professionals discussing their work and the place of religion in the public conversation. The podcast  is hosted by Dr. William "Chip" Gruen, Director of the Institute for Religious and Cultural Understanding at Muhlenberg College. The title of his podcast with President Erwin is "Identity, Vocation, and Contemporary Christianity."

Congratulations to three ULS alumni (Philadelphia campus) who were elected ELCA synod bishops during the last election: Timothy Oslovich, Alaska Synod ( '97)  - elected ​April 27​ Bryan Penman, Southeastern Pennsylvania Synod ( '12) - elected ​May 4​Nathan Pipho, New England Synod ( '02  ) - elected ​June 7

Mark your calendar! The annual Advent Vespers, The Promised Light, will be held on Sunday, December 1 at 5PM in the chapel on the Philadelphia campus - 7301 Germantown Avenue, Philadelphia, PA  19119. Join us after Vespers on the landing outside the chapel facing  Germantown Avenue for a tree lighting (approx. 6:15PM), including cookies and cider. Both events are open to the public.

President Erwin hosted a fall cookout on both campuses. Jake Schindel, owner of The Ragged Edge Coffee House in Gettysburg and the onsite caterer for the Gettysburg campus, was grill master for the day!

And, on the Philadelphia campus in October, it was a beautiful night for a bonfire, hosted by the Philadelphia Campus Council.  Thank you to MA student Osama Sebaai for posting photos. Osama also posted, "As I sit by the warmth of the bonfire at ULS, I'm filled with a profound sense of gratitude and reflection." Osama arrived in the U.S. a year ago. Welcome Osama and thank you!

his year's Luther Colloquy was held in late October on the Gettysburg campus, honoring Martin Luther's contribution to church music and the enduring influence of his work on worship practices and Christian liturgy. Guest  speakers and panelists included Dr. Craig Atwood, Dr. Awet Andemicael and Dr. Robin Leaver, pictured here with President R. Guy Erwin and ULS faculty member Dr. Natalia Marandiuc, who served as panel moderator.

The Rev. Dr, J. Jayakiran Sebastian, H. George Anderson Chair and Professor of Mission and Cultures at ULS, was in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia delivering the keynote address at the first thematic plenary session of the ​Tenth Congress of Asian Theologians​.
