The Doctor of Ministry (DMin) is an advanced professional degree designed to enhance the practice of ministry. Participants are normally those in the ordained ministry of the Church. Admission requires both the completion of a Master of Divinity degree or its equivalent, and at least three years of experience in ministry subsequent to the first graduate theological degree. It is generally expected that enrolled students be actively engaged in professional ministry. They must show evidence of capacity for an advanced level of competence and reflection.
The DMin program supports the lifelong learning of pastors throughout the church, benefiting individuals, congregations, and denominations. The program requires 24 credits, alongside an individual project according to an area of focus. The DMin, along with the STM at ULS, is considered an advanced theological degree.
Focus areas include:
Biblical Studies, Black Church Studies, Christian Education, Church Administration, Church and Society, Evangelism/Mission, Interfaith Studies, Rural/Small Church Ministry, Mission and Cultures, Pastoral Care, Preaching, Spirituality, and Worship.
